Dundas BI SharePoint web part issues
Issue: Viewer Web Part does not work in Internet Explorer
Symptom:
- The Dundas BI Viewer Web Part works in Chrome or Firefox but not Internet Explorer (IE). You see an error message stating your current browser is not supported.
Cause:
- This could be due to a known issue with SharePoint forcing its own Compatibility Mode by using a meta tag in the SharePoint master page to render the page in IE 8. Confirm this by checking the source code of your SharePoint master page. The meta tag looks like this:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=some value"/>
Resolution:
- To resolve this, change the above meta tag to:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EDGE"/>
- EDGE tells IE to render in the highest possible version available. However, note that this may affect or break other parts of your SharePoint site/applications that are relying on IE 8 compatibility.
